Outreach and Mission (local)
Habitat for Humanity
Our Adams County Habitat for Humanity involvement enables area low income families to purchase their own homes even though their income is too low to qualify for a conventional bank loan. GPC has been a Covenant Church with Habitat for 25 years. Those chosen to be Habitat home owners must help build their new home (called “sweat equity”) along with the Habitat volunteers or help in the construction of another’s home. Counseling on family finances, budgeting and other skills are provided to assure successful home ownership.
Carpenter’s Gift is our annual venture in which church members spend a Saturday together repairing and fixing up the home of an area low income homeowner. Carpentry, painting and general labor are provided by members of GPC.
Mission Bright Star
Our Mission Bright Star purchases Christmas gifts for the children of inmates at Adams County Prison and holds a Christmas party for the children in which they hear the message of God’s love for them. Two Christmas gifts are provided for each child, a toy and an item of clothing, which have been suggested by the child’s family. These gifts are purchased, wrapped ad returned to the church so they can be delivered to the children before Christmas.
Extended Mission (beyond Adams County)
Youth Summer Workcamp
The Youth Summer Workcamp involves 40 – 50 middle school and high school youth and adult supervisors who travel to some economically depressed region of our nation to spend a week repairing and restoring houses.

The Honduras Medical and Dental Mission trip involves between 10 – 15 of our members (medical and non-medical personnel) who join up with 40 – 50 other Christians to conduct a two week mission in a remote area of Honduras.
Mexico Mission Trip
This one-week summer mission works with Accion Ministry in the Yucatan Peninsula, we build churches and home, run a Vacation Bible School, and give out prescription and reading glasses.
South Carolina Habitat for Humanity Trip
This mission works with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, building homes for needy families. The trip usually takes place in April.
South Dakota Native American Mission Trip
Each year our church mission group travels to the Cheyenne River Lakota Sioux Indian Reservation, located in north central South Dakota. Our purpose is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to the Native Americans by serving the Lord through the actions of building or remodeling homes, distributing clothing, delivering diabetic supplies, feeding the poor, offering nutrition classes, educating the children through Bible school or games, and having fellowship with the local people.
We contribute financially to support the missions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and three dozen local, national and international missions.
